The Position:

In our quest for operational excellence, we are looking for a Payroll Operations Supervisor. This role is essential for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of our payroll operations, particularly within our unionized environments. The ideal candidate will bring a depth of experience in payroll, demonstrating a keen understanding of the complexities and legalities involved in payroll processes across multiple entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage and ensure accuracy in the end-to-end weekly and bi-weekly payroll process for multiple companies.
  • Offer cross-functional support within the payroll department, demonstrating a willingness to learn and back up different functions as needed.
  • Generate comprehensive payroll reports to support various departments, ensuring these reports are tailored to their specific needs.
  • Assist the Payroll Manager in all aspects of the department's operations, focusing on compliance, accuracy, integrity, and timeliness to ensure the highest standards in payroll processing.
  • Perform detailed audits of various payroll processes, including adherence to union requirements, to ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as internal policies.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of payroll processes and procedures and create training materials to enhance the knowledge and skills of the payroll department staff.
  • Acquire comprehensive cross-training in all payroll department functions to ensure capability in filling any role within the department, maintaining uninterrupted payroll operations.

The Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience supervising a payroll department, preferably in a union and / prevailing wage environment.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Superior interpersonal, verbal/written skills and presentation skills essential.
  • Familiarity state and federal payroll regulations required.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
